Sophie Chater
Sophie Chater is a creative producer who began at STV Creative, and is now producing independent short films, documentaries, and commercials.
Her most recent short, BLACKWOOL, co-produced with Jack Gemmell, premiered at the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival, the first Scottish short narrative to do so and is currently nominated for a BAFTA Scotland award.
Her most recent documentary, Big Moves, directed and starring Sarah Grant, premiered at Palm Springs (US) and Hot Docs (Can) and is currently nominated for a Grierson award.
In commercials she has worked in-house on sports content at Cut Media, as well as independently with external and foreign clients, acting as a fixer in Glasgow. In broadcast she has worked as a production coordinator for a variety of Scottish production companies.
In 2021 she was selected for Sharp Shorts’s Producer Accelerator Scheme, funded by BFI NETWORK and Screen Scotland and delivered by Film City Futures in partnership with Glasgow Film.
